Entry Title: Dance of Discovery

All four figures on this wallhanging are made from recycled denim and measure 50cm.  They tell a story of a dance "The dance of Discovery".

The concept for the piece was to discover a design through donated materials.  Originally we started with a highly theoretical design base, but as the design progressed and developed, the main elements of the design seemed to come together, almost like destiny, until finally we had uncovered this beautiful and inviting piece.

Entry Title: Rock & Roll Wheel

 Our inspiration to for the design derives from the fact that it has revolutionised the way we work and play.  The wheel then led to the invention of the cog which is used in clocks, cars, machinery and even computers.

Perhaps the greatest medical discovery of the 20th century is the structure of DNA.  The knowledge of DNA's chemical structure allowed us to understand for the first time how DNA replicates itself again and again.

Entry Title:  DNA: A Design for Life

I wanted to design something that's relevant to medical research.  Combining that with a functional piece of furniture was an enormous task.  I got my inspiration from seeing a super-imposed picture of a DNA strand and coloured hexagonal and pentagonal shapes.

My design is a collaboration of imagination, craftsmanship, sewing and embroidery.  It uses an original table frame with a map of the world stretched over the top which has been sewn together using 100% recycled denim.

Pocketful of fun quilt cover for children.  The inspiration is drawn from finding things in old jean pockets.  It is a very happy discovery when it is a $20 bill or an old letter from a friend.
